The FDA created the mandatory Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness Response Act in 2002, following the horrific events that occurred in the US on September 11, 2001. The “Act” requires food and dietary supplement companies to register each of their facilities, and the corresponding products and processes used, with the FDA. This allows the FDA to better protect dietary supplements in the US marketplace from bioterrorism threats and empowers the FDA’s ability to better regulate the industry.
Dietary supplement companies are required to register each of their facilities, both foreign and domestic, in the FDA Food Facility Registration if they introduce dietary supplements for sale in the US marketplace.
The FFR process can be time consuming and confusing. GFSS will register your facilities for you, freeing you up to handle other responsibilities of your company. For international companies, GFSS can also function as your FDA required US Agent.
